Where Hearts Were Entertaining June (1592) by ToixStory Where Hearts Were Entertaining June (1592) by ToixStory
This map is, essentially, the start of a reboot of one of my scenarios entitled Where Hearts Were Entertaining June. The gist of the scenario is that in 1589 the English Armada is markedly more successful than in our own world, hitting the new Iberian Union hard enough to force the government in Madrid to offer peace terms to the English that left the Kingdom of England much better off: in exchange for accepting Spanish dominion over Portugal, the English would receive control over the former Portuguese colony of Brazil, with its growing population and large income.

Thus sets off the journey into a world far different than our own. One of the English in South America, the Portuguese in the North, of a world power Sweden and republican Poland and an entire adventure to look at what might have been. I hope in time everyone will enjoy it and for now enjoy this preview of the world, with the situation in 1592. Shortly after taking control, England reaffirmed the capital of Brazil as Salvador, sending new governors and officials who began to reorganize the territory, including renaming the two provinces. While a small change, it would be the start of a radically different future that would see Brazil become a major world leader in just about every field.

I will be using this map in the future essentially as a base to show changes throughout the timeline as they occur, so expect more to come and I hope you all will enjoy.

I took an already-existing map and traced it in Inkscape, then modified it to my own liking.

The first one doing such awesome world projections I can remember is you. It´s fantastic!

You could set up a whole timeline as you wrote how it evolves ** That would be cool.

I'm curious to see how this affects English-French relations. Their relationship wasn't that high to begin with, only made worse because they had colonies directly competing with each other. But now, it looks like England's main colony will be directly competing against the Spanish instead, and France will be competing against poor, little Portugal (assuming that France takes the same historical regions)

Historically, England was perfectly willing to ally with the French to get at the Spanish if they needed and so will likely do so at times here. I can also see England fighting much harder to support pro-Protestant (or at least anti-murder-all Protestants) French royalty and in general trying to get France on their side as a counter to Spain. Also, Portugal isn't necessarily little or poor. After getting out of the Iberian Union they'll still have quite a few colonies and outposts all over the world and use the justification of Spain giving Brazil to England to defy the Treaty of Tordesillas and begin colonizing North America. Their population wasn't that much different from England's in the era, they have a strong navy, and historically they beat up every attempt by France to colonize Brazil. It's going to make for some interesting situations in North America for sure, but I wouldn't count Portugal out. ;)

I would definitely love to see how much this affects Europe and Protestantism in TTL

What's the reason for rebooting an already excellent timeline?

Make it more interesting and accurate to what a scenario like it would actually be.

HAppy to follow it when the reboots starts.^^

But PLEASE don't use the 'Make _____ Great Again!' phrase because
1. It's gotten old, and 2. It was ripped off from MGR: Revengeance
